My name is Gary and I am an Alcoholic, my sobriety date is Feb. 6th, 2012 and my home group is Tulsa
Big Book. I am currently serving as your D30 Archives Chair.
We are very close to launching the District 30 Digital Archives, I have requested some time at the next District Meeting to walk everyone through the Digital Archives. In the meantime, I am requesting that all groups start to submit material for the archives. I am looking for group flyers, group minutes, treasurer reports, group histories, and old-timer
interviews. These can be submitted to archives@district30aa.com. You can also bring hard copies to the next district meeting, and I will take and scan the documents.
I will return the hard copies at the following district meeting.
I will also request a Policy and Procedure change at the next District meeting that will finalize how we access the digital archives, and to put in place a District 30 Digital Archivist.
If you are interested in becoming the District 30 Digital Archivist, please see me during this meeting. This person should have a true love and passion for our AA History!
In 1957 Bill Wilson wrote:
“We are trying to build up extensive records which will be of value to a future historian...“It is highly important that the factual material be placed in our files in such a way that
there can be no substantial distortion...“We want to keep enlarging on this idea for the sake of the full length history to come...”
I encourage all groups to complete a group history, and/or interview the old timers of your group. If you would like to submit a group history, or interview an old-timer in your group I have provided
you with the forms. These forms are also available online on the Area 57 website. www.oklahomaaa.org
